✔️Brilliant?! Or, Process!?
The Idea: Should you be focused on individual knowledge or process based thinking?
Dave’s Take: To me the question is a bit wrong headed.
Why?
Because they work best: together.
You need to constantly work on improving your individual knowledge.
Absolutely.
The world is constantly changing. New discoveries are being made. New approaches.
At the same time, you need processes to help you create a shorthand for taking action and giving yourself room to have the freedom to think.
Processes help lessen the likelihood that you’ll make a needless mistake.
Why?
Your processes are repeatable and should be something you are comfortable with
Think of creating a checklist that has all the steps laid out in order. That’s a process.
The CFA framework that we discussed a few weeks back, a process.
Are processes perfect?
No.
But they should allow you to do the mundane tasks consistently so that you can focus on the important things or the things that fall outside of the process.
