3 Things I'm Thankful For...
Hey There!
If you are an American, let me wish you an early Happy Thanksgiving.
Be safe!
I don’t know if I mentioned chatting to my friend Cat recently but she mentioned that the way she is refocusing a lot of her conversations during the pandemic is by asking folks to tell her something good that has happened.
I also have a podcast interview scheduled for tomorrow with a Canadian company that started a podcast at the start of the pandemic and they wanted me to think about things I’m thankful for.
In that vein, I’m going to give you three things I am thankful for right now.
I’m thankful for all of the people around me:
I did an interview with my local newspaper on Friday for an article about male friendships during the pandemic and the reporter got around to asking me about what was the most important thing I’ve learned during the pandemic and I realized it was the people.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to make new friends from all over the world the last few years.
I’ve got some really good people that live near me and that I am connected with during the pandemic.
And, I’ve got my family.
I like to quote the movie, Singles: “People need people, Steve.”
I’m thankful for the ability to learn new things:
You know, the learning and applying thing is great.
I was watching the Tottenham and Manchester City match today and thought about how only 3.5 years ago, I had no idea about any of this soccer stuff. Since then, I’ve had the chance to go to Wembley to see Spurs and Chelsea, Audi Field to see Wayne Rooney, and I’ve coached the boy’s team and learned to teach kids how to play soccer.
Apply that across the world of marketing, tickets, sales, management, and all the other areas I’ve had the chance to learn and use in business.
And, I was talking with my lady the other day, I’ve even learned to not be so grumpy.
I’m grateful for this stuff because I think learning and applying new things keeps you young and evolution keeps you growing.
I’m thankful for the ability to share my ideas with folks:
I don’t know when I started this newsletter, I’d have to look and it doesn’t matter.
Because the most important thing is that I’m grateful for the opportunity to come into your inbox each week and share my ideas. I’m grateful and thankful for the people I’ve taught new ways of marketing and selling their products and services. I’m thankful for the way that these ideas connect me to the world.
I know this one is short and simple and different, but I’m thankful for a lot. These are simple ones, but when you are in the middle of a pandemic, I think it is pretty important to remember what you are thankful for and its Thanksgiving so let’s be thankful for everything we can this year.
